Several students from our HIFT Ohana near and far participated at the 2014 IFT Annual Expo in New Orleans!
Among those, were two of our past students, Jordan Oshiro and Kacie Ho, currently at Purdue University. They participated in the Feeding Tomorrow 5K Fun Run. They had costumes to look like Orange Cuties! The IFT Fun Run raised more than $107,000 in support of the Feeding Tomorrow Scholarship Fund.
Among those students who presented in the Food Engineering poster competition were:
Kara Yamada and Dr. Soojin Jun also presented in an IFT Oral Session titled "Are Nano-Biosensors Ready for Rapid Detection of Multiple Foodborne Pathogens?"
Also, a special congratulations to miss Kacie Ho took 2nd place in the poster presentations for the Food Engineering Division! Kacie is now a PhD Student at Purdue University, focusing her research on lycopene.

Among those students who presented in the Food Engineering poster competition were:
- Inae Lee (MBBE PhD Student): Macro-scale cascade dielectrophoresis (DEO) for continuous flow bacteria cell separation in drinking water
- Natthakan Rungraeng (MBBE PhD Student) presented 2 posters:
- Nano-engineered alunina surfaces for prevention of bacterial adhesions
- Preventio of Listeria monocytogenes biofilms adhesions on food contact surface using easy-to-clean self-slippery cellulose nanofiber coating
- Kara Yamada (FSHN MS Student): Multiplexed detection of foodborne pathogens using a single walled carbon nanotube based biosensor
